Semi-parametric Exponential Family PCA
We present a semi-parametric latent variable model based technique for density modelling, dimensionality reduction and visualization. Unlike previous methods, we estimate the latent distribution non-parametrically which enables us to model data generated by an underlying low dimensional, multimodal distribution. In addition, we allow the components of latent variable models to be drawn from the...
متن کاملExponential Family Hybrid Semi-Supervised Learning
We present an approach to semi-supervised learning based on an exponential family characterization. Our approach generalizes previous work on coupled priors for hybrid generative/discriminative models. Our model is more flexible and natural than previous approaches. Experimental results on several data sets show that our approach also performs better in practice.

Paramagnetic beads have the superior advantages of easy separation and resuspension by controlling the magnetic filed. Previously, we have developed Magtration technology to automate paramagnetic bead handling and have built several automated instruments that handle 1-12 samples simultaneously. To achieve more high-throughput sample processing, two types of a 96-arrayed Integrated Magtration Un...
متن کاملSemi-Lagrangian Runge-Kutta Exponential Integrators for Convection Dominated Problems
In this paper we consider the case of nonlinear convectiondiffusion problems with a dominating convection term and we propose exponential integrators based on the composition of exact pure convection flows. The main reason for developing this type of methods is that as it turns out they can be applied to the numerical integration of the considered PDEs in a semi-Lagrangian fashion. SemiLagrangi...
متن کاملSemi-Lagrangian exponential integrators for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations
preprint numerics no. 7/2011 norwegian university of science and technology trondheim, norway Direct applications of high order DIRK-CF methods as presented in [7] to the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations were found to yield a loss in order of convergence. The DIRK-CF methods are exponential integrators arising from the IMEX Runge-Kutta techniques proposed in [1], and are semi-Lagrangian w...
